The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Federal Government to clarify whether or not Friday will be declared a public holiday.

This comes after rumors circulated on social media that President Muhammadu Buhari was advised to declare a public holiday to prevent the Supreme Court from ruling on the PDP’s case against President-elect Bola Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima.

The PDP had filed a suit claiming that Shettima’s nomination for both vice president and Borno central senatorial seat in the 2023 election violated the Electoral Act.

The PDP has called on the government to address these allegations and prevent any potential crisis.

“The PDP also calls on the Federal Government to come clean on a further allegation, which is also in the public domain that APC is mounting pressure on the Department of State Services (DSS) to advise President Buhari to declare the public holiday.

“The ominous silence by the Federal Government in the face of such grave allegations is heightening tension across the country and has the capacity to trigger a wide-spread crisis if not immediately addressed”, the statement added.
