Antonio Conte has left his position as head coach of Tottenham Hotspur by mutual consent, following recent criticisms of the club and players.
The Italian coach, who led the team to Champions League qualification in his first season, has been relieved of his duties after a disappointing spell in charge.
Tottenham suffered a double exit from the Champions League and FA Cup earlier this month and dropped crucial points in the race for fourth place last weekend.
Conte’s frustrations towards the players and club hierarchy in his post-match press conference were the final straw.
The club’s chairman, Daniel Levy, emphasized the importance of pulling together for the remaining Premier League games and securing a Champions League place.
“We achieved Champions League qualification in Antonio’s first season. We thank Antonio for his contribution and wish him well for the future,” the club statement read.
Conte’s assistant, Cristian Stellini, will take charge for the rest of the season, with Ryan Mason as assistant head coach.
