Senator Jubrin Karau, representing Kano North, has officially declared his intention to run for the office of the Senate President, earlier today.
Speaking to pressmen at the National Assembly on Wednesday morning, Karau asserted that only competent candidates should be allowed to occupy the position of the Senate President.
Meanwhile, his announcement comes barely 24 hours after Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the Chief Whip of the 9th Assembly, said that it was his turn to become the Senate President.
Karau also downplayed the possible role of religion to influence his ambition’s success.
He maintains there’s nothing wrong with having a Muslim President, Vice President, and Senate President, emphasizing the need for competence in leadership.
