The Presidency has strongly decried the reports of stone-pelting of President Muhammadu Buhari on his visit to Kano state.
Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu clarified that facts on the ground, as rendered by law enforcement agencies, revealed a clash between local authorities and hired thugs.
Describing the incident as an attempt to malign the image of the President and members of the All Progressives Congress in an electioneering campaign, Shehu urged opposition political parties to look inwards at why their campaigns have been flagging and destined to fail.
He further called upon social and religious leaders to inform youths who are misled by politicians and terrorist sympathizers from engaging in violent activities during elections.
Lastly, he noted that it is through closure of borders that led to the establishment of 60-70 integrated rice mills in Kano today which would not have existed had free-for-all smuggling been allowed.
