After 14 years with Real Madrid, Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema will be leaving the LaLiga club as a free agent in the upcoming close season.
The 35-year-old French striker is set to move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad, with reports suggesting that he has agreed to a two-year contract worth more than 100 million euros.
Benzema had initially looked set to stay with Real Madrid for one more year, but the offer from Saudi Arabia reportedly made him reconsider his future.
Real Madrid has praised Benzema’s conduct and professionalism, stating that he has represented the values of the club.
Benzema scored more than 350 goals for Real Madrid, making him the second-highest scorer in the club’s history behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
He finishes his career in the Spanish capital with a record 25 trophies, including five European Cups, four LaLiga titles, and three Copas del Rey.
