Kylian Mbappe could be instrumental in Manchester City’s summer transfer plans, according to reports.
The Sun believe the PSG star will work to encourage a move for his former Monaco teammate and City midfielder Bernardo Silva.
Barcelona was heavily linked with Silva last summer, but Pep Guardiola revealed at that time that he wasn’t sure whether or not the 28-year-old would stay at the club.
Silva’s contract ends in 2025 and should he depart this summer, it could open up room for City to invest in their midfield.
Ilkay Gundogan’s contract also nears its expiration date and it is assumed by BBC journalist Jordan Elgott that both he and Silva may move on from the Etihad.
If so, only Kalvin Phillips, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne would remain of City’s senior midfielders, leaving plenty of room for investment and restructuring.
Despite having missed only two matches this season, Silva has been effective for Guardiola offensively with two goals and five assists recorded in his 29 appearances.
