Lagos State Police Command uncovered a suspected baby factory in the Ijegun area, rescuing 10 victims and arresting three suspects involved in the operation.
According to Daily Post, the discovery followed a tip-off received on Saturday, prompting swift police intervention.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the raid and reported that officers arrested Mariam Vincent, 35, the alleged operator of the facility, along with two accomplices: Orie Ruth, 23, and Ujunwa Ifeanyi, 18.
During the operation, police rescued seven adult women and three children from the illegal facility.
The authorities identified the adult victims as Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26), while they named the children as Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2).
The police have provided care and support to the rescued individuals while they continue investigating the case.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had abducted the victims from various parts of Lagos to operate an illegal child trafficking ring.
Hundeyin assured that they would prosecute the suspects once investigations conclude.
In a broader security update, Hundeyin reported that police arrested 39 individuals across the state over the past two weeks for offenses including murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms.
In a separate incident, police also rescued two kidnap victims in the Igbe Alagemo community of Ijede, Ikorodu, after a violent attack on March 26, 2025.
The attackers stormed the neighborhood, fatally shot a guard dog, and abducted Dare, a 40-year-old man, along with 25-year-old Rodiat.
Following a distress call, police coordinated a rescue operation with local security teams, leading to the victims’ safe return on March 29 at around 11:56 p.m.
The victims have reunited with their families, and authorities have increased security in the area to prevent further incidents.
