At a send-forth party organized by the Board of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), outgoing Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari is aware of the nickname “Baba Go Slow” given to him by some Nigerians.
Mohammed explained that the President earned the nickname due to his tolerant and democratic approach to governance, which allows his Ministers to carry out their duties without undue interference.
Despite criticism from both the government and naysayers, Mohammed praised Buhari for his tolerance and for never instructing him to shut down a station, even when they were abusing him.
Mohammed was surprised when the President himself acknowledged the nickname during a cabinet meeting.
” I must give credit to Mr President. I have never seen a President as tolerant as President Muhammadu Buhari”.
“He has never said that the Minister of Information and Culture should go and close this station even when they are abusing him.
“One day, I was surprised in the cabinet when the President said, ‘I know they call me Baba Go Slow.”
