Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State is set to hold its convocation ceremony today, where a total of 2,754 students will graduate.
The university’s acting vice-chancellor, Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu, announced this at a press conference held at the Institution’s Council Chamber.
The breakdown of the figures shows that eight students will graduate with first-class degrees, while 332 will receive second-class upper degrees, and 766 will earn their degrees in the second-class lower category.
Additionally, 249 students will finish in the third-class category, and 13 students will graduate with Passes.
The Faculty of Clinical Sciences will see 63 students graduate with MBBS, while 1,286 students will graduate from the Faculty of Nursing Sciences.
The ceremony will also include the investiture of the University’s 6th Chancellor, His Majesty Sir Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, the Paramount ruler of Emouha Kingdom in Rivers State. Sir Awuse is the first non-Yoruba to be the chancellor of the 33-year-old institution.
This year’s convocation is unique in many ways and will see 55 new Ph.D. holders, 1,883 graduates with Master’s degrees, and 24 postgraduate diploma holders.
The acting VC also noted that the Oyo State government’s full ownership of LAUTECH has made operations smoother since the takeover three years ago.
