Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has called on Victor Igbineweka, the Labour Party (LP) candidate for Oredo East State Constituency, to stop dragging his name into his grievances over his electoral loss.

In a statement made on behalf of the Governor by his Special Adviser on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, he warned Igbineweka and other individuals to stop blaming Governor Obaseki for their failures.

Osagie expressed disappointment over the trend of individuals and actors within Edo State who, instead of taking responsibility for their failures, resort to blaming Governor Obaseki.

He described Igbineweka’s comments in a viral video on social media as malicious, distasteful, and false accusations aimed at appealing to emotions and dragging the name of the Governor into a matter he knows nothing about.

Osagie reiterated that Governor Obaseki is a man of unimpeachable character and a firm believer in the sanctity of free and fair elections as the bedrock of democracy.

He emphasized that the Governor is not an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or the Nigerian Police Force, nor is he a candidate in the House of Assembly election.

He called on Igbineweka to take his grievances to the appropriate authorities with credible evidence to support his claims rather than resorting to baseless and distasteful comments.

Osagie condemned Igbineweka’s uncouth remarks and restated the Governor’s commitment to promoting the welfare and well-being of the people of Edo State and upholding the principles of democracy.
