FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that he has been in talks with Lionel Messi about a possible return to the club. Messi left Barca in 2021 and joined Paris Saint Germain, but with his contract expiring soon and tensions rising in Paris, a return to his former club is being discussed.
Laporta, who recently celebrated Barca’s La Liga win, revealed that he has been in contact with Messi and that the conversation was “affectionate and pleasant”.
However, Laporta also acknowledged the club’s financial difficulties and stated that they will not entertain exorbitant figures to make the deal happen.
Barca has reportedly offered Messi a contract of €25 million a year, but there are rumors of a €350 million offer from Al-Hilal in the Middle East.
Laporta and his board will need to convince both La Liga and Messi that a return to Barca is the best move for all parties involved.
