According to a recent report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the average retail price of a litre of petrol, also known as the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), in Nigeria was over N630. The report further revealed that the western states had the cheapest petrol prices, while the northern states paid more for the product.
In March, the average pump price of fuel rose by 153.65 percent, selling for N696.79 compared to N264.29 in March 2023. The NBS breakdown of state analysis showed that Taraba state had the highest average retail price for petrol at N761.92, followed by Yobe and Adamawa states at N749.09 and N735.00, respectively.
On the other hand, Lagos, Oyo, and Ogun states had the lowest average retail prices for petrol at N630.75, N645.88, and N651.25, respectively.
