Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has admitted recent performances haven’t been up to par after suffering an alarming 3-0 defeat at Brighton on Saturday.

Jürgen Klopp described it as the worst in his career, with two Solly March goals and one from Danny Welbeck securing a well-deserved victory for the Seagulls.

The Reds have now lost three games in a row, plummeting to ninth in the Premier League table and Henderson recognised something was amiss at Anfield this season.

“Everything went wrong from start to finish,” he said after the match. “Brighton were better than us all around – this is definitely a low point for our team.”

When asked if it was his worst-ever performance as a player, Henderson accepted: “Probably”.

He lamented the lack of confidence in their current predicament but urged everyone to stay together and turn things around quickly: “We can do better and we know it. I’ll accept responsibility along with everyone else.”

He’s determined that no further morale slips occur by stressing that the squad must maintain their unity throughout this tough period, remarking: ” This is when individuals might take selfish routes, but we should keep strong and come through this – it’ll make us even stronger at the end of all this”.
