Liverpool is reportedly showing respect for Xabi Alonso’s desire to win the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, unlike Bayern Munich.
The Premier League club is in search of a new manager to replace Jurgen Klopp, and Leverkusen boss Alonso is the frontrunner for the position.
However, Bayern Munich is also interested in securing Alonso’s services, following the announcement of Thomas Tuchel’s departure from the club in the summer.
According to The Guardian, Liverpool is taking a more respectful approach in their pursuit of Alonso.
Unlike Bayern Munich, they are not engaging in a public courtship of their former midfielder, but rather acknowledging his attempts to win the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen.
Alonso is aware of Liverpool’s interest, but the report suggests that the Sporting coach Rúben Amorim is also under consideration.
Liverpool is also considering alternative options to Alonso, with Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi being mentioned as a potential successor to Klopp.
Inzaghi has achieved success since joining Inter Milan, winning the Coppa Italia twice and reaching the Champions League final last season.
However, Spanish outlet Fichajes reports that Inzaghi has rejected Liverpool’s offer, as he remains focused on his current goals with Inter Milan.
Inter Milan is likely to reach the Champions League quarter-finals and is currently leading Serie A by 15 points.
The club has no intention of letting Inzaghi leave, as he has proven his worth and is committed to the long-term project in Milan.
