The Reds are in desperate need of a new midfielder to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

Arne Slot, yet to sign a single player, is now keen on bolstering the middle of his park.

The spotlight has now turned to Zubimendi, who emerged as a serious target just a few days ago.

Talks between Liverpool, the player, and his club Real Sociedad have been ongoing, with a potential move to Anfield this summer in the cards.

Zubimendi is recognized as one of the best defensive midfielders in La Liga over the last few seasons.

Clubs like Arsenal, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich have all shown interest in him previously.

However, it is Liverpool who are now pushing hardest for his signature.

According to reports, the Merseyside club is willing to trigger Zubimendi’s €60 million release clause and have also offered the 24-year-old a more lucrative salary and a prominent leadership role within the team.

Despite Liverpool’s strong push, Real Sociedad are determined to keep their star player.

Club president Jokin Aperribay and manager Imanol Alguacil have both held discussions with Zubimendi and his agent, trying to convince him to stay.

They have countered Liverpool’s offer, promising to make Zubimendi the highest-paid player at the club.

The midfielder featured in a recent friendly against Union Berlin, suggesting he may not be fully convinced by Liverpool’s proposal, the final decision now rests with him.
