Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes was reportedly involved in an altercation at a Madrid nightclub, resulting in his arrest after an incident with a man who allegedly took a photo of him without permission.
Nunes joined City from Wolves for £45 million last summer and has struggled for playing time under Pep Guardiola, with limited appearances in the Premier League despite starting in City’s recent Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava.
According to reports, the incident occurred at La Riviera nightclub on the morning of September 8.
Nunes was accused of stealing the mobile phone of a 58-year-old man who allegedly took a photo of him inside a bathroom.
Witnesses reported that the midfielder, angered by the unauthorized photo, took the phone and refused to return it.
Other reports suggest the man may have physically touched Nunes while holding the phone, prompting the player’s reaction.
The police were called, and Nunes was taken to Arganzuela police station, where he provided a statement regarding the allegations of theft.
He was released later that day, with charges pending trial.
Nunes had been spending time with friends in Madrid during the international break, as he had not been called up for Portugal’s Nations League matches.
Now, shockingly, he has registered as many arrests as he has goals while playing for City.
