Manchester City goalkeeper Éderson believes the club has already identified a successor for Pep Guardiola should he decide to leave at the end of the season.

Guardiola, whose contract runs until June 2025, has not yet confirmed his plans beyond that date.

Since joining City in 2016, he has led the team to 18 titles, making him one of the most successful managers in the club’s history.

Éderson stated, “City is a very well-structured club… I believe the club already has the next manager in mind. Of course, it would be a great loss because you are talking about the best coach in the world.”

Having worked under Guardiola since 2017, Éderson has witnessed firsthand the evolution of players within the squad.

He mentioned that many players have significantly improved their performance under Guardiola’s guidance.

“If you don’t develop as a player with Guardiola, it’s because you don’t want to,” Éderson stated, emphasizing the coach’s role as a guiding force for the team.

As speculation continues regarding Guardiola’s future, City’s recent appointment of new football director Hugo Viana and potential links to coach Rúben Amorim further solidify Éderson’s belief that the club is prepared for the post-Guardiola era, should that time come.
