Manchester United secured a much-needed 2-1 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford.

This victory ended a frustrating streak of more than a month without a win.

The result lifted United to 10th in the Premier League standings with 11 points from eight matches, easing some pressure on manager Erik ten Hag amid speculation about his job security.

Ethan Pinnock scored Brentford’s opener with a header from a corner deep in first-half stoppage time.

The goal came while United had ten men on the pitch, as referee Sam Barrott had temporarily halted play to allow Matthijs de Ligt to receive treatment for a head injury.

However, United responded strongly after the break with Alejandro Garnacho equalizing just two minutes into the second half, converting a cross from Marcus Rashford from close range.

Rasmus Hojlund then scored the winner in spectacular fashion in the 62nd minute, chipping the ball over Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken after receiving a clever back-heel pass from Bruno Fernandes.

The victory was crucial for United, who had faced mounting criticism following a series of poor performances.
