Manchester United and Everton are pushing for the signing of Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi as the summer transfer window heats up. The Nigerian midfielder is available for £9 million following Leicester’s relegation.

According to The United Stand via transfer expert Ben Jacobs, Everton and Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal are also in the race for the experienced midfielder. Manchester United are seriously considering the move as they plan a midfield overhaul under Ruben Amorim.

Ndidi has made 220 Premier League appearances and is known for his strong tackling, ball recovery, and energy in the middle of the park. His playing style once drew comparisons to N’Golo Kante, making him an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their midfield without spending heavily.

Amorim’s Midfield Overhaul in Progress

Manchester United are actively reshaping their midfield under Amorim’s leadership. Christian Eriksen is expected to leave, and while Casemiro may stay, the squad needs more energy and defensive balance.

The Red Devils have been linked with João Palhinha from Bayern Munich, but his price tag may prove challenging. Ndidi offers a more affordable solution, providing immediate Premier League quality and freeing up resources for other key areas.

Ndidi fits Amorim’s system, which demands quick ball recovery and high pressing. His ability to cover ground and protect the defense makes him a valuable asset for United’s tactical reset.

Everton and Al-Hilal Add Competition

Everton are also working on strengthening their midfield. Manager David Moyes values players with proven Premier League experience and is interested in bringing Ndidi to Goodison Park as the club rebuilds.

Al-Hilal have made a strong approach, offering a lucrative deal. However, reports suggest that Ndidi prefers to remain in Europe, which could give Manchester United and Everton the edge in negotiations.

“The pull of Old Trafford and Amorim’s new vision could sway Ndidi’s decision, especially if United move quickly,” the report added.

United Must Move Fast

Manchester United will need to act with urgency to secure Ndidi’s signature. The midfielder’s low release clause presents a rare chance to sign a top-level player at a reasonable fee.

Ndidi’s Premier League readiness, tactical flexibility, and defensive qualities make him a smart option for United’s rebuild. Everton remain in the mix, but Manchester United’s project under Ruben Amorim may prove decisive.
