Manchester United have increased their bid for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu to €30m (£25.3m), following an initial offer of €27m (£22.8m) that was rejected.
United are seeking an attack-minded left-back for Ruben Amorim’s system and, after missing out on Paris Saint-Germain’s Nuno Mendes, have turned their attention to the 20-year-old Dorgu.
The €30m bid is reportedly the highest the club has made for the versatile defender, although reportsa suggests the offer may be “in excess of €30m.”
Despite Manchester United’s interest, Lecce’s club president Saverio Sticchi Damiani has made it clear that they are looking for at least €40 million (£33.7 million) for their star player.
Lecce is currently involved in a relegation battle, making it difficult for them to let go of valuable players like Dorgu early in the season.
United’s increased bid follows their decision to send Antony on loan to Real Betis, with the Spanish club covering most of his wages, saving United around £1.5m over six months.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford’s future remains uncertain.
Although linked with a move to AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, negotiations have stalled due to his £300,000-per-week wages.
Milan chose to use their foreign loan spot on Manchester City‘s Kyle Walker, leaving West Ham as a potential destination for Rashford, though his high wages continue to pose a challenge.
