Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who fell out of favor at Chelsea, is set to join Marseille on a free transfer.

The 34-year-old striker was left out of Chelsea’s pre-season training camp by manager Mauricio Pochettino, indicating his lack of confidence in him.

Aubameyang had a disappointing season at Chelsea, scoring only one goal in 15 Premier League appearances.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Aubameyang has signed a three-year deal with Marseille and will undergo medical tests on Thursday.

Chelsea signed Aubameyang from Barcelona last summer for £10.3m, but his contract has been terminated a year early.

With Aubameyang’s departure, Chelsea may need to bring in a new striker, especially if Romelu Lukaku leaves the club.

They have already signed Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, and have been linked with Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic.

However, Chelsea’s wage demands may be a hurdle in securing Vlahovic. Another option is Montpellier striker Elye Wahi, who scored 19 goals in Ligue 1 last season.

Chelsea plans to loan Wahi to their affiliate club Strasbourg.

In the meantime, Pochettino will have to rely on the existing options in his squad, including Jackson, Nkunku, and Armando Broja, to score goals for Chelsea this season.
