Liverpool and Everton head into tonight’s derby with some key players sidelined.
For Liverpool, Joe Gomez is out after a hamstring injury kept him off the pitch for most of the last few months. Trent Alexander-Arnold is also missing from the Reds’ squad.
Everton are also dealing with injuries. Midfielder Orel Mangala and striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin won’t be available. Both are back on the field but not yet ready for action.
While four players are definitely missing, there are concerns over others too. Liverpool’s Conor Bradley is back in training but may not be risked after six weeks out. Everton’s Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye are also back in training, though they may not feature just yet.
Vitalii Mykolenko is another player to keep an eye on. The Ukrainian defender has been training, but there will be a late check on his fitness.
Liverpool also faces potential injury scares with Alisson Becker, Ibrahima Konate, and Ryan Gravenberch, although they are expected to play.
It’s shaping up to be a derby with plenty of uncertainty about who will be fit to play.
