Miley Cyrus has opened up about a painful medical emergency she experienced while hosting a high-profile television event, revealing that the incident nearly pushed her to quit music altogether.
According to The Zane Lowe Show, the pop singer suffered a ruptured ovarian cyst while co-hosting “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party” with her godmother, Dolly Parton, during NBC’s 2023 New Year’s Eve celebration.
“I had a pretty traumatic experience when I was doing my New Year’s show,” Cyrus shared. “It was pretty traumatic because it was extremely excruciating, and I did the show anyway. But it was really, really hard on me.”
The event left her reconsidering her future in the music industry. However, a conversation with Saturday Night Live creator and producer Lorne Michaels helped shift her perspective. “He goes, ‘Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild,'” Cyrus recalled.
Despite the setback, the singer has rebounded and is preparing to release her upcoming album, Something Beautiful, later this month.
