Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis was questioned on Wednesday as part of an investigation into the deal that brought Victor Osimhen to the club. Napoli signed Osimhen from Ligue 1 club Lille in 2020 in a deal valued at €76 million.

As part of the deal, four Napoli players also joined Lille, with a total market value of around €20 million. Investigators have alleged that the market values of the players were inflated to help Napoli’s books.

This has led to a probe into false accounting. De Laurentiis, accompanied by his lawyer Fabio Fulgeri, arrived at the FIGC prosecutor’s office in Rome and was subjected to around 90 minutes of questioning by Deputy Prosecutor Giuseppe Cascini.

The investigation aims to shed light on the details of the transfer deal and determine if any wrongdoing occurred.

The authorities are taking the necessary steps to investigate any potential irregularities and hold those responsible accountable.

Football clubs and their officials have a responsibility to conduct transfers in a fair and ethical manner.
