Napoli have signed Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea in a £30 million deal.
The move was largely influenced by Napoli‘s manager Antonio Conte, who previously managed Lukaku during his successful stint at Inter Milan from 2019 to 2021.
Under Conte, Lukaku had two prolific seasons, including a standout 2020-21 campaign where he scored 24 league goals and helped Inter win the Serie A title.
Lukaku rejoined Chelsea in 2021 for a then-club-record £97.5 million after his impressive form in Italy.
However, his return to Stamford Bridge was short-lived.
He spent the past two seasons back on loan in Serie A, first with Inter and then with Roma.
Lukaku has not featured for Chelsea since May 2022, and his departure allows the club to remove his hefty £350,000-a-week wages from their payroll.
Alongside Lukaku, Chelsea midfielder Tino Anjorin has also made a move to Italy, signing a three-year deal with Empoli.
