The Dutch national football team were originally scheduled to travel to Dortmund from their base in Wolfsburg by train.
However, a blockage on the railway line forced the team to alter their travel plans.
Consequently, they had to switch to flying, which resulted in a late arrival and the inability to fulfill their media obligations.
Their scheduled pre-match press conference was cancelled due to this disruption.
In a statement, the Dutch football association explained, “Due to disruption of the Netherlands’ planned team travel to Dortmund, their arrival has been significantly delayed and therefore no press conference will take place.”
England boss Gareth Southgate commented on the situation during his own pre-match press conference.
He mentioned, “We don’t play until 9pm tomorrow. I’m sure they will still get dinner when they arrive. They’ve got plenty of time. I don’t see it having any impact on the game.”
