A recent Facebook post from February 2024 claimed that Aisha Yesufu, a prominent media influencer and ally of Peter Obi, had been arrested by Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Services (DSS).

The post alleged that Yesufu was arrested for her critical remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, a fact-checking platform, Africa Check, investigated the claim and found no evidence to support the arrest of Aisha Yesufu.

Given Yesufu’s popularity and influence, it is unlikely that her arrest would go unnoticed by the mainstream media.

No credible media organizations have reported on such an arrest.

Yesufu has been known for her outspoken criticism of successive Nigerian governments, making her a thorn in the flesh of those in power.

Nevertheless, there is no concrete proof to substantiate the claim of her arrest.

In a separate report, Legit.ng had previously covered Yesufu’s response to allegations of financial misappropriation within the opposition party.

She vehemently denied any involvement in the alleged scandal, asserting that all donations received during the Obi/Datti Baba-Ahmed campaign were directly deposited into the campaign account.
