Super Eagles former coach, Gernot Rohr has said that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) were ignorant of his contractual terms before sacking him.
The coach who was shoved aside at the eve of the last Africa Cup of Nations where the Super Eagles lost to Tunisia in the round of 16 said he was not aware that the erstwhile board of the NFF actually studied the content of his contract before sacking, happily noting that they are now paying him in full.
The coach who spoke on a programme by Osasu Obayiuwana which was culled by our correspondent said there was no reason for his sack in the first place as they were building towards qualifying the Super Eagles for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
He afterwards blamed outgone president of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick, for the crises that engulfed Nigerian football, acknowledging that it was wrong to have taking the decision to sack him in the first place.
“Amaju said I was sacked to avoid a disaster (for the Super Eagles). But everybody can see that without me there was a disaster; these are the facts.
“There was no rationale for sacking me as they did because if I had gone to the AFCON and had not won it, or If I had not qualified for the World Cup, they could have ended my contract without paying me anything?
“But they are paying up my contract in full now. I don’t think they studied my contract properly before taken their decision.
“Amaju Pinnick was the one that created the disaster. The decision to sack me was irrational as we were on target to achieve our objective to go to Qatar,” Rohr told Osasu Obayiuwana.
