A viral video has been circulating on the internet showing protesters in the Niger Republic displaying a banner with an altered image of President Bola Tinubu.

The image of President Tinubu, who is also the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Authority of Heads of State and Government, was marked with cancellation signs.

In an act of protest, the demonstrators crossed out “Bola” from the banner and replaced it with “Ebola,” renaming the Nigerian President.

This incident occurred amidst ECOWAS’ efforts to address the coup that overthrew President Mohamed Bazoum’s government in Niger.

President Tinubu had previously sent a delegation to Niger to engage stakeholders and seek a peaceful resolution.
