The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) is set to hold a valedictory meeting on Wednesday, April 26, ahead of the upcoming induction event for new and returning Governors between May 14 and 17.

The meeting will mark the first physical gathering of the NGF this year, as previous meetings were held virtually.

The Director of Media and Public Affairs for the NGF Secretariat, Abdulrazaque Barkindo, has confirmed that a total of 17 Governors will be leaving the Forum after completing their terms of office.

An invitation has also been extended to all 36 Governors by the Director-General of the NGF, Asishana Okauru.

The Chairman of the NGF is expected to give a brief speech and make some parting remarks before opening the floor for valedictories from members.

According to the Director-General, plans are underway for the onboarding of new Governors at the upcoming NGF induction event.

The meeting will also mark the end of the Governors’ Fayemi/Tambuwal leadership of the Forum, and a new Chairman will emerge from among Governors of the majority party in due course.

First termers are ineligible to vie for the Chairmanship of the Forum, as stated in the NGF’s statement.
