Ghana’s head coach Kim Lars Björkegren believes Nigeria have what it takes to lift the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) trophy, www.naijnaira.com reports.

Speaking to reporters, the Swedish tactician, whose Ghana side clashed with both Nigeria and Morocco recently, gave Nigeria the edge based on what he described as “more quality.” In a quote carried by Complete Sports, Björkegren remarked, “Nigeria can probably play with a second team and also win the tournament with a second team. That’s my opinion.”

Björkegren’s Black Queens narrowly lost 2-1 to Nigeria in a pre-tournament warm-up and were edged out by Morocco in a dramatic penalty shootout during the semifinals.

Despite praising Morocco’s tactical discipline, he said, “If Nigeria is not showing up, then Morocco will win. But my feeling is they are going to do it. And I put $1 on Nigeria.”

Nigeria enters Saturday’s final unbeaten, having scored 11 goals and conceded just once. Morocco, also with 11 goals, have allowed six.

Morocco seek their first WAFCON title after falling to South Africa in 2022. Nigeria, aiming for a 10th win in 10 final appearances, are the tournament’s dominant force.

Each time Ghana clinched third place, Nigeria ended up champions—something fans will be watching closely.
