The Niger State Police Command has confirmed that it stopped a pro-Tinubu rally in Borgu Local Government Area.
Speaking to our correspondent, the Command’s Public Relations Officer Wasiu Abiodun stated that they had received intelligence of a potential security breach taking place at the rally and as such had to forestall it.
The rally “Grand Lockdown”, was meant to be a show of support for All Progressives Congress’ presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shettima.
Usman Shehu, one of their supporters reported that arrangements for the rally were completed and ready right until supporters arrived at the venue only to discover that it had been taken over by police and barricaded off due to the perceived security threat.
