Nigeria’s National Orientation Agency (NOA) has announced that the population and housing census will take place from May 3 to May 5th.

The NOA director-general, Garba Abari, stated that the census is a major national event with significant importance for national planning and project execution purposes.

The change in the date was due to the postponement of the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections.

Abari assured that the commission is ready to embark on the exercise, with awareness creation, sensitisation, enlightenment, and advocacy around the census already taking place.

The census will capture every person, household, and structure for development, planning, security, infrastructure development, educational, health, and other demographic considerations.
