The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Bayo Ojulari, says there are ongoing threats to his life and those of senior management staff – www.naijnaira.com reports.
According to Vanguard, Ojulari linked the threats to the reforms he is driving in the oil and gas industry under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He alleged that certain powerful groups are not comfortable with his push to revive the nation’s refineries and are plotting to remove him from office.
Speaking during a visit by leaders of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, Ojulari expressed concern but vowed not to abandon his mandate.
“Our offence is simple: we want to bring the refineries back to life and make them run at full capacity,” he stated.
He explained that the management is studying the Nigeria LNG model as a framework to restructure and operate the refineries effectively.
Despite acknowledging that the threats are real, Ojulari said, “I’m not hiding from anyone. I’m not a politician, but I’m ready to learn.”
