The latest Nokia phone, the G22, is set to revolutionize smartphone repairs with a feature that most other smartphones don’t have.
The device has been designed such that its owners can easily and safely replace certain parts, including its 6.52-inch display, 5,050 mAh battery and charging port.
To achieve this goal, the maker partnered with electronics repair company iFixit and will supply repair kits as well as replacement parts for these components.
Furthermore, if users replace them with tools from the supplied kits and manuals from iFixit, it would be considered an authorized repair and so does not void their warranty on the phone.
Besides these repairing features, other specifications of the Nokia G22 include a Unisoc T606 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage which can be upgraded with up to 2TB of micro SD card storage.
Camera-wise, it packs a 50MB main rear camera complemented by a 2MP depth camera and a 2MP Macro camera; and an 8MP selfie camera at the front.
It is also pre-installed with Android 12 OS but will be upgradable up to two years OS updates plus three years security updates after its March 8 launch in UK for £149.99 (or roughly $179).
Thus far no plans have been made to release it in US markets but hopefully, this could spark off a trend leading to more manufacturers rolling out owner-repair friendly phones.
