Nollywood veteran John Okarfor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has sadly passed away at the age of 62.
According to reports from sources close to him, the actor died at Evercare Hospital.
Fans and colleagues have expressed their condolences on social media platforms, sharing memories of the movies he has been a part of.
Confirming the news, the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, posted a message on his Facebook page, expressing his grief.

He also mentioned the loss of Kate Henshaw’s mother on the same day. Mr Ibu’s manager of 24 years, Mr Don Single Nwuzor, stated that the actor suffered a cardiac arrest.
Details surrounding Mr Ibu’s death are still awaited, and his family and representatives have yet to make a public statement.
It is a tragic loss for the Nigerian film industry, as Mr Ibu was a well-loved and respected figure. It is worth mentioning that Mr Ibu had been dealing with health issues since October 2023 and had undergone multiple surgeries, including the amputation of his leg.
However, his family provided updates in November, indicating that he was on the road to recovery.
