North Korea has announced the successful testing of a new underwater drone, the “Haeil-2 Unmanned Underwater Nuclear Attack Boat,” which it claims is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

The drone was tested for over 71 hours in waters off North Korea’s east coast before its test warhead was detonated underwater on Thursday.

This is the second time in recent weeks that North Korea has claimed to have tested a nuclear-capable drone, with the previous test being of the Haeil-1 in March.

North Korean state media has stated that leader Kim Jong Un personally guided the latest test.

However, analysts have expressed skepticism about North Korea’s claims, noting that the country has a history of exaggerating its capabilities.

The announcement comes after North Korea’s recent tests of nuclear-capable cruise missiles.
