The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has confirmed that investigators are already on ground to uncover the cause of the Abuja-Kaduna train derailment — www.naijnaira.com reports.
According to information released by The Punch, the derailment happened around KM 49, between Kubwa Station and Asham Station, during a Kaduna-bound service.
Authorities disclosed that six passengers sustained injuries, while no deaths were recorded in the incident.
The NSIB explained that a response team has been deployed to gather evidence, inspect the site, and work with key stakeholders to determine what went wrong.
Captain Alex Badeh Jr., Director General of the NSIB, assured that the inquiry will remain transparent and independent.
He stated, “We have sent our investigators to the site to establish the root cause of this derailment.”
In another part of the statement, the Bureau expressed sympathy to passengers who were injured and promised assistance to those affected.
Badeh added, “Our commitment is to make rail transport safer for Nigerians through detailed investigation and actionable safety recommendations.”
The NSIB noted that further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses in the coming weeks.
