Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points with a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at Anfield.
Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah were the heroes for Liverpool, with Nunez opening the scoring in the 20th minute.
The goal came after a lightning counter-attack, with Salah being fouled by Leon Bailey as he raced toward goal.
The referee allowed play to continue, and Nunez rounded Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez to score.
Aston Villa fought hard throughout the match, creating several chances, but were unable to find an equalizer.
In the 84th minute, Salah sealed the win for Liverpool, finishing off another swift break to make it 2-0 and ensure the points stayed at Anfield.
Under new manager Arne Slot, Liverpool have now won 15 of their 17 matches and 9 of their first 11 Premier League games.
They head into the international break with confidence before returning to action against Southampton on November 24.
For Villa, the defeat means they’ve now lost four consecutive matches, although they remain in eighth place.
Manager Unai Emery will look to get back on track when they host Crystal Palace after the break.
