The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has partnered with Oando Clean Energy Limited (OCEL) to launch a pilot programme for electric buses in Lagos, Nigeria.

The programme aims to reduce the city’s carbon footprint and improve air quality.

The buses have been equipped with regenerative braking systems, reliable battery and motor systems, and zero tailpipe emissions.

Charging stations have been installed at each bus depot to ensure the buses are fully charged every day.

The drivers have also been trained on the proper use and maintenance of the buses.

The pilot programme will collect data to support the development and deployment of electric vehicles for municipal and public transport in Africa.

The project is part of Lagos State’s climate action plan, which aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
