Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, has dismissed claims that he already revealed where he is headed politically before the 2027 elections – www.naijnaira.com reports.
He explained during a live appearance on TVC’s “Beyond The Headlines” that he never declared he would contest for governor or seek a senatorial seat.
Obasa stressed that politicians must respect the decisions of their parties, and for him, the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains the body that determines his political journey.
“As a politician, you must wait for the hierarchy of the party to determine where they want you to go; whether as a lawmaker, governor, or senator,” he said.
He urged Nigerians not to misinterpret statements or fuel unnecessary tension, adding that his focus remains on how the country can progress under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.
The Lagos Speaker also stated that he is not leaving politics yet but is conscious of life after service, noting that ambition has to be guided by discipline within the party.
“Our party is our strength, and those of us in the APC are family members. The APC is getting stronger every day,” Obasa declared.
On his personal outlook, he said: “Life is next. So let’s concentrate on living that life.”
He emphasized that while individuals may have aspirations, it is only through consultations and decisions of party leaders that such ambitions can materialize.
According to him, whether one becomes Speaker, Deputy Governor, Governor, or Senator, the key is respecting the party’s leadership and aligning with its collective process.
