The OnePlus 6T is one of the most superb and last to be unveiled smartphones in October 2018, a month which almost all tech companies around the world chose to either launch new products or roll out upgrade to their existing ones.
If you read my review of the OnePlus 6, you should be able to guess how great the 6T will be.
Since 2016, starting with the One Plus 3 and 3T, the smartphone manufacturer has been releasing 2 (two) devices every year. They usually unveil the original version in the middle of the year (June in 2016 and 2017 but May in 2018) and the T variant (which is basically an upgraded version of the original) towards the ending of the year (November in 2016 and 2017 but October in 2018).
That been said, let’s take a closer look at the 6T which include its specifications, how much has changed since the 6, the cons and pros (review) and price in Naira.
OnePlus 6T Review
Just like the 6, you get great performance, solid design, capable cameras, long lasting battery with support for quick (dash as OnePlus would call it) charge and it is still cheap which is a knock out for its competitor.
Design and Display
Couple of things have change between the 6 and 6T when it comes to design. There is a different type of Notch (a tear or water drop notch to be precise) on the 6T. Don’t worry you can also hide it by navigating to Settings >> Display. Inside the notch are the earpiece, selfie camera and ambient light sensor.
On the 6T, the fingerprint scanner is neither rear mounted not front mounted but in-display. That’s the fingerprint scanner is embedded under its Optic AMOLED display.
Sorry to the lovers of 3.5mm headphone jack. You say why? Well, it is because it is no longer available on the 6T. According to OnePlus, the on-screen fingerprint and bigger battery crammed into the 6T took too much space that the only way to prevent the phone from being ridiculously big is to let go of the headphone jack.
The 6T is designed from the current best of Corning, the Gorilla Glass 6 both on the front and back. Even as that, there is still no support for wireless charging.
Placement of power button, volume button, alert slider, dual rear camera, SIM card slot, USB Type-C port, speaker and microphone remain the same as the 6.
Display wise, the 6T is a 6.41-inch optic AMOLED display smartphone featuring 2340 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) screen resolution and 402 PPI pixel density. The screen is bright with awesome color reproduction.
Performance, Operating System & Storage
OnePlus 6T is powered by one of the most powerful SoC in the mobile world right now. The same processor in all Android flagships since late 2017. Talking of Snapdragon 845 alongside Adreno 630 GPU.
With options for 6GB and 8GB of RAM and internal storage starting at 128GB up to 256GB, you should have no doubt the device will handle anything thrown at it with ease.
It is not just powerful, it is also very fast. Response to command is very swift and appealing.
The 6T runs on Oxygen OS based on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box.
Battery, Camera & Connectivity
It is packed with 3700 mAh battery capacity with support for dash charge that can fully charge the device from 0% in less than 80 minutes.
The camera is the exact same used on the 6. The rear camera is 16MP Sony sensor using f/1.7, 27mm, 1/2.6″, 1.22µm, gyro-EIS, OIS and 20MP Samsung sensor that use f/1.7, 1/2.8″, 1.0µm.
You will have no problem capturing happy moment anytime of the day and night. Low light photography has been immensely improved over the 5T.
There is support for USB Type-C, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS and dual Nano SIM.
