Prof. Razaq Abubakre, an ex-Vice Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin and a prominent indigene of Osun State, has declared his belief that former Governor Gboyega Oyetola will reclaim his mandate at the Supreme Court.
He dismissed threats of unrest by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as empty, and claimed that the security apparatus, which is part of the paraphernalia of the office of a governor, will not be available to Governor Ademola Adeleke in due course.
According to Abubakre, the violent posture of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) remains a hallmark of the PDP in Osun State.
He alleged that the PDP killed members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during their primaries and forced many to abandon their homes.
Abubakre also claimed that the situation enabled the PDP, “the unscrupulous umpire and security allies to write whatever they chose”.
He asserted that cast-iron records show that irregularities characterised the Osun governorship election.
The don further alleged that the PDP’s intimidation of the Supreme Court is similar to what Peter Obi’s running mate, Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, did, which caused Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka to criticise Labour Party (LP) supporters.
Abubakre stated that the state only knows peace “when progressives are in power,” citing the struggle for Rauf Aregbesola to become Governor, which saw many lives lost.
