Eberechi Eze is officially heading to Arsenal in a massive £67.5 million move, but the transfer has left Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner fuming – www.naijnaira.com reports.
According to GOAL, the midfielder withdrew from Palace’s European play-off win over Fredrikstad just hours before kick-off, calling in sick on matchday and forcing Glasner into a last-minute reshuffle.
The Austrian coach turned to 21-year-old Justin Devenny, who stepped in during Palace’s first-ever European night, but Glasner admitted he felt blindsided by the timing.
After the game, he launched a scathing attack on the club’s hierarchy, saying: “We missed the chance to replace him early enough. That’s completely our fault, and nobody else’s fault.”
He added bluntly, “I think he won’t play for us again, so I have to prepare the team without him.”
Palace’s problems could deepen further as captain Marc Guehi continues talks with Liverpool, raising fears of a double exit before the window closes.
So far, Palace have only added Borna Sosa and Walter Benítez, while chairman Steve Parish admitted replacing Eze directly would be impossible but promised reinforcements soon.
Palace now face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League before traveling to Norway for the decisive second leg against Fredrikstad.
