Parents of students at Chrisland High School are pleading with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to reopen the school so that their children can complete the academic term.
The school was closed by the Lagos State government on February 13, 2023, following the questionable death of a student during inter-house sports.
In an open letter to the Governor, the parents expressed their appreciation for his support to the deceased family, but urged him to consider the interests of students in year 9 and 12 who are in their terminal classes.
The parents acknowledged the importance of justice for the deceased student, but emphasized the impact of the school closure on their children’s education and well-being.
They committed to working with the school to ensure adherence to safety standards and requested the Governor’s “parent heart” to reopen the school and allow their children to catch up on missed activities and prepare for upcoming exams.
