Pastor Adeboye RCCG, God told Pastor Adeboye, why Adeboye won’t leave RCCG

Redemption City, Ogun State – Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), shared a divine message he received that stopped him from ever leaving the ministry. According to a report by The Punch, the respected cleric said God told him that his firstborn would die if he left RCCG for any other church.

During the June 2025 edition of the RCCG Holy Ghost Service, themed “Destined for Greatness (Part 2),” Pastor Adeboye disclosed the serious warning from God. He expressed concern over how younger Christians frequently move between churches without spiritual conviction.

“But God said to me, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die,’” Pastor Adeboye told the congregation.

The prominent preacher reflected on his early days in Christianity, noting that three thriving ministries existed at the time he was born again. Despite their popularity, he said God instructed him to remain in RCCG, even though it was relatively unknown and operating out of a modest building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

He further recalled a time when he, a university lecturer, had to submit to his spiritual mentor who had no formal education. According to Adeboye, God’s instructions then were clear: stay and serve.

RCCG has since grown into one of Nigeria’s largest Pentecostal ministries, with millions of followers across the world. Adeboye’s obedience, he implied, played a central role in its expansion.
