FG Second Niger Bridge to be commissioned on May 15

The Second Niger Bridge, a major infrastructure project in Nigeria, is set to be fully open to motorists on May 15, 2023, according to the country’s federal government.

The announcement was made by Babatunde Fashola, the minister of works and housing, during an inspection of the Loko-Oweto Bridge and link roads between Benue and Nasarawa states.

Fashola confirmed that the project was undergoing necessary finishing works, such as lane markings and signage, and that the flag-off ceremony would be formally done by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Second Niger Bridge was opened for one month during the festive season in December 2022 and will be officially opened in May 2023 to ease traffic in the southeast region of Nigeria.
