Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, who was also the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections, recently made a statement emphasizing his belief that only God has the power to grant leadership positions.

This statement came in response to speculation about his potential 2027 presidential run and the ongoing controversy surrounding the outcome of the PDP’s 98th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

Supporters’ Concerns and Atiku’s Reassurance

During a Whatsapp group chat with his supporters, Atiku addressed concerns of perceived betrayal within the PDP. He reassured his followers that there is a higher power at play and it is God who ultimately decides who holds power.

Atiku’s supporters expressed their agreement and optimism, believing that their collective efforts will eventually lead to victory.

The Future of PDP and Atiku’s Presidential Ambitions

Looking ahead to the 2027 presidential election, Primate Babatunde Elijah Ayodele, the spiritual head of the Inri Evangelical Spiritual Church, has predicted the emergence of a new powerful candidate within the PDP.

While Ayodele did not specifically mention Atiku, he suggested that someone other than Atiku would be chosen as the party’s candidate. Atiku, who has previously contested the presidency six times, remains a prominent figure in Nigerian politics.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Atiku and the PDP in their quest for power.
