In a recent interview, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga opened up about his decision to leave the club and join Real Madrid on loan.

He revealed that Bayern Munich had also shown interest in him, but ultimately he felt that a change would be good for him.

Kepa mentioned that Mauricio Pochettino, the former Chelsea manager, wanted him to stay at the club and assured him of playing time.

However, Kepa decided that a move to Real Madrid would be the best option for him.

He also mentioned that Thomas Tuchel, who managed him at Chelsea, had called him and they were close to joining Bayern Munich before the Real Madrid opportunity came up.

Kepa explained that although he didn’t play much under Tuchel at Chelsea, it was still a confidence boost to have a coach who wanted him in his team.

He expressed that he felt it was time for a change of scenery and that the project at Chelsea was not the right fit for him.

When Real Madrid came calling, Kepa felt that everything changed and the signing was quickly finalized.
