A former police corporal has been arrested in Lagos for impersonating a serving inspector of police.
The 35-year-old suspect was apprehended while riding an unregistered motorcycle on a major road, despite a ban on such activity.
He identified himself as a police inspector and produced an identification card bearing his name and photograph.
A subsequent search of his home in Sango Ota, Ogun State, uncovered a range of police uniforms and accessories, including a sergeant rank, camouflage clothing, and a police beret with crest.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect had been using the uniforms since his dismissal from the police force in 2017 and had been changing his rank to match that of his serving colleagues.
He will be arraigned once investigations are complete.
